Our walkable, eight-acre campus sits on the edge of vibrant downtown Des Moines in Iowa’s capital. Learn about our state-of-the-art Academic Center for Excellence, classrooms and healthcare simulation labs for hands-on learning opportunities, on-campus chapel, first-class medical library, and so much more.
The Academic Center for Excellence was expanded and renovated in 2018 making up 22,000 square-feet of office, classroom, and laboratory space. Departments located in ACE include:
- Admissions
- Allied Health Offices
- Financial Aid
- Nursing Simulation Labs
- Registrar
Named after Sister Mary Zita Brennan, Brennan Hall is located on the west side of campus and houses many campus amenities including:
- Brennan Hall Auditorium
- Brennan Hall Chapel
- Brennan Hall Courtyard
- The Recovery Room Micro Market
- Radiologic Technology Lab
Located on the garden level of the Academic Center for Excellence, the Center for Continuing Education houses Mercy College’s EMT and EMS programs. The Center also offers a wide-variety of continuing education programs certified through:
- American Heart Association (AHA)
- National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT)
- American Academy of Pediatrics
- University of Miami Health System
Owned and operated by Newbury Living, College Hill Apartments were newly renovated in 2018 with modern applicances and decor. Units include 1-2 bedrooms with both single units and shared units available. College Hill Apartments have 86 total housing units on campus and are not owned and operated by Mercy College. Amenities include:

- In-Unit Washer and Dryer*

Located in the ACE building, the Norkaitis Student Success Center provides an array of free student support services such as counseling, disability services, tutoring, and more. Spaces located here include:
- Academic Advisor Offices
- Catherine’s Cabinet #1
- Computer-Based Testing Center
- Tutoring Center
Located in ACE, our nursing simulation labs are designed to provide students with hands-on learning experiences. Students encounter human patient simulators that imitate real-life situations and provides students with opportunities to enhance their skillset in a realistic setting. Some current learning tools include:
- IV pumps
- EKG machine
- Medication carts
- Defibrillators (CPR manikin with feedback)
Mercy College’s Sullivan Center was built in 2005 and named in honor of Patricia Clare Sullivan, former School of Nursing Director (1960-64) and Mercy Medical Center CEO (1977-93). The Sullivan Center houses:
- Anatomy Lab
- Business Office
- Catherine’s Cabinet #2
- Chemistry Lab
- Diagnostic Medical Sonography Lab
- Medical Assisting Lab
- Mercy College Library
- Physical Therapist Assistant Lab
Open 24/7, the strong>Recovery Room is Mercy College’s grab & go micro market. From sandwiches and burritos to espresso and Gatorade, a variety of options are available for students to grab, eat, and recharge. Features include:

- Pay With Cash, Card, or ID Badge
