Major-Specific Information

REQUIREMENTS

PROGRAM ADMISSION

Once you have been admitted to Mercy College of Health Sciences, you may be asked to complete a professional program admissions process. You can learn if your major requires a separate program admissions process by checking your major’s page. You may find it helpful to complete general education courses at Mercy College prior to your program admission.

For degrees or certificates that have admissions requirements beyond those for general College admission, you will receive instructions to complete an academic program application in order to begin the process of program admission. Once you have satisfied all of your major’s requirements, your completed file will be given to the appropriate program chair for consideration. It is your responsibility to complete the professional program application process by the appropriate program deadline.

The program chairs begin reviewing completed files by the deadlines listed on each major’s page. Professional program admission is often limited and competitive. Selection for admission is based on the most qualified applicants. You will need to complete all requirements by the program admissions deadline to ensure your file is reviewed on time.

Professional

PROGRAM Day

Mercy College’s Professional Program Days welcome students who have officially been accepted into their professional area of study. Each event contains a series of activities designed for you to familiarize yourself with your major’s expectations, faculty, resources, and more. Not all degree programs require students to attend a Professional Program Day, so be sure to check with your advisor for additional details.

Each program’s Professional Program Day provides information to familiarize you with the services, procedures, and policies of your major that are necessary for success during on-campus coursework, as well as while in the many clinical experiences you will have in hospitals and other settings. You will have the opportunity to meet with your program chair, faculty members, and faculty advisor to register for your courses.

Online orientation participants are still required to attend Professional Program Day. It is your responsibility to attend the date corresponding to your respective program.
