June Keith, JD, has been appointed the newest member of the Mercy College of Health Sciences Board of Directors. Keith was unanimously voted onto the Board by current members at the December meeting and assumed her duties upon confirmation of her appointment.

Keith currently works as a staff attorney at Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice, where she serves low income and marginalized communities through her expertise with immigration law. Previously, Keith was the assistant general counsel at the Alameda County Office of Education Schools Legal Counsel, an associate attorney with Whitmore, Kay and Stevens in Palo Alto, California, and an assistant professor of legal writing and research at Santa Clara University Law School.

Keith attended Saint Mary’s College of California, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Liberal Arts before going on to Hastings College of Law at the University of California to earn her law degree. Keith has practiced law for nearly 40 years.

In addition to her professional experiences, Keith is a member of the California State Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Catholic Legal Immigration Network Inc.  She has volunteered with various charitable organizations, including Catholic Charities in Des Moines, Iowa, where she assisted with upkeep and general tasks in the emergency family shelter and provided legal education and support for families as part of a refugee resettlement program.

“June Keith is a very welcome addition to our Board of Directors,” Mercy College President Dr. Adreain Henry, OD, EdD, MBA, enthused. “Her compassion and dedication for those she serves is truly inspirational, and Mercy College will benefit greatly from her unique perspective and expertise earned from years of protecting those who are most vulnerable in our society.”
