Mercy College of Health Sciences hosted their 2022 Employee Recognition, “Celebrating the past, looking to the future,” luncheon to honor employees’ milestones, promotions, and contributions to the campus community. In the weeks prior to the luncheon, members of the campus community are asked to nominate individuals who exemplify Mercy College’s Core Values – Knowledge, Reverence, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence – and contribute to student success. Nominations are collected for Staff and Faculty Excellence awards, as well as the Sister Zita Brennan Employee Service and Glenn Oren Student Spirit Awards. Final honorees are announced at the annual employee event hosted by the Human Resources department and Mercy College administrators.
This year, the Faculty Excellence Award was given to Assistant Professor of Nursing Dr. Felicia Rodriguez, with the Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award going to Joe Coen, an instructor for the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course. Senior Admissions Counselor Katelyn Schmitt was awarded the Staff Excellence Award.
This year’s Glenn Oren Student Spirit Award winner was Sara Hill, Senior Academic Advisor. The Glenn Oren Student Spirit Award was established to honor those who are student-centered, uphold a commitment to excellence and student success, and demonstrate compassion and academic integrity. Liberal Arts and Sciences Professor Dr. Joseph Moravec was honored with the Sister Zita Brennan Employee Service Award, which recognizes individuals who exemplify leadership, contribute to the community and campus, and demonstrate the qualities and values of Sister Zita Brennan: courage, caring, and compassionate service.
Award recipients received a commemorative plaque at the event and will have their names, photos, and accomplishments displayed in the Hall of Excellence in the Sullivan Center on campus.
