Mercy College of Health Sciences Program Chair, Dr. Jeannine Matz, is one of 12 Mercy employees to receive this year’s Spirit of Mercy Award.

The Spirit of Mercy Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of all Central Iowa MercyOne and Mercy College staff and faculty members whose professional and personal standards exemplify the compassionate servanthood demonstrated by the Sisters of Mercy and live up to the highest standards of service to others.

“I am truly humbled to receive such a prestigious award. It means the world to me since it comes from your peers, colleagues, and students,” stated Dr. Matz. “I have been so honored be a part of the Mercy family for almost 23 years and seeing numerous students aspire to and succeed in their professions. Being a part of the College, working with the greatest colleagues, and educating future healthcare providers has been a 1 blessing,”
expressed Dr. Matz.

MercyOne President, Karl Keeler, and Chief Mission Officer, Laura Wenman, present each winner with a framed certificate and portrait of Catherine McAuley. Award recipients are also entered into a drawing for a trip for two to Dublin, Ireland to visit the original House of Mercy.
