Meet the President
Dr. Adreain Henry
Dr. Adreain Henry is the fourth president of Mercy College of Health Sciences. Previously, Dr. Henry served as the Chief Academic Officer and Associate Provost for Hallmark University in San Antonio, Texas, where he was formerly the Dean of Arts, Sciences, Graduate Studies, and Research.
Dr. Henry earned his Associate of Arts in music and pre-med from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he attended as a first generation college student. From there, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Southern Mississippi before going on to earn his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry from Salus University in Pennsylvania. In addition, Dr. Henry earned a Master of Arts in Business from Webster University in Missouri, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia, and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania.
Beyond his impressive list of degrees and professional credentials, Dr. Henry has dedicated his career to establishing himself as an inspirational and successful leader through his executive roles in healthcare, education, and the U.S. Army. While displaying a high level of integrity, leadership, commitment, professionalism, and emotional intelligence, he effectively leads change by building consensus, creating pathways, and mentoring. He is passionate about the ministry of healing, as well as healthcare delivery and its impact on all stakeholders.
Dr. Henry has authored and co-authored numerous publications, is a member of the American Academy of Optometry, and is a devoted husband and father. He currently lives in Des Moines, Iowa, with his wife, Karen, and their two children, Abrielle and Adreain Jr.
