Mercy College of Health Sciences has officially contributed its historical college archive to the Iowa Heritage Digital Collection. The College’s collections include yearbooks, handbooks, scrapbooks, and class photos dating back to 1901.
The Iowa Heritage Digital Collection is an online repository of Iowa history and culture maintained by the State Library of Iowa. All physical materials and artifacts from the College, some of which have become frail over time, were tagged and digitized by State Library staff.
“We hope Iowa historians, amateur and expert, will enjoy exploring the collection,” stated Jennie Ver Steeg, MLIS, Mercy College Director of Library and Media Resources. “These artifacts are now available to all, not hiding in a file cabinet or archival box. Mercy College has been part of the fabric of Des Moines and a fixture in the state for over a century, and now our history can be searched, explored, and enjoyed.”
