Experts visit Mercy College of Health Sciences for 2013-14 Academic Year Colloquium
The entire Mercy College of Health Sciences board, administration, faculty, staff and a full schedule of internal and external speakers assembled to hear from a variety of experts to prepare for the arrival of the 2013-14 Academic Year during the College’s Colloquium this week.
The following guests presented to the College community:
- Bob Ritz, newly appointed President of Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines introduced himself formally to the College community.
- Barbara H. McCrabb, Assistant Director for Higher Education for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Washington, D.C. presented on Understanding The Application of Ex corde Ecclesiae for the United States.
- Hayley E. Hanson, J.D., Partner, Husch, Blackwell Law Firm, Kansas City, MO, delivered a Legal Update as it related to Higher Education.
- Don Powless, Police Officer at Department of Veterans Affairs delivered instruction and demonstration on A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) which is a set of proactive strategies that increase chances of survival during an armed intruder event.
