Mercy College & Our Community

Mercy College of Health Sciences is an important contributor to both the physical health and economic health of Iowa and the City of Des Moines, according to a study conducted on behalf of the institution by a national research firm.  During 2003, the economic impact of Mercy College on Iowa equaled $18.5 million and generated 251 full-time equivalent jobs, both directly and indirectly.  The impact on the City of Des Moines equaled $7.4 million and generated 108 full-time equivalent direct and indirect jobs.  Mercy College-related businesses and employees generated more than $1.2 million combined in tax revenue for the state of Iowa and the City of Des Moines.

In the most recent year, the College graduated more than 225 health care professionals in 10 professional fields.  More than 2,200 alumni currently live and work in Iowa1.
